Subversive

Your Hidden Talent
You have the natural talent of rocking the boat, thwarting the system. And while this may not seem big, it can be.It's people like you who serve as the catalysts to major cultural changes. You're just a bit behind the scenes, so no one really notices.

Nocturnal

It just occured to me that we are all creatures of the night: Janis, Ruby, Joe, me, Mom. I even married a natural nocturne, Mike. We've passed it on to our children. Our natural rhythm is to stay up late and sleep late. We fight it as we conform to the majority. Most work begins in the morning, school, doctor appointments, etc. We are the minority.

Nighttime is introverted, seeking, listening, taking a long deep breath and feeling. It's when we dare to feel, to set aside the brave face or the protective mask. But who are we protecting, ourselves or the ones we encounter throughout the day? How many of us know the real face of anyone? The real face. Is it possible? Would we have the energy to withstand it?

I love the sounds of the night. The high-pitched welp of a fox, dogs barking in answer, an aberrant rooster crowing (perhaps confused by the articial light?), the rustle of birds nesting in the shrubs as I patrol my domain, settling down when they realize it's me. We are familiar with each other. Even the background noise of the trucks seems benign as I imagine other nocturnals driving through the night until they reach the morning. Nighttime feels different. How different are we that prefer it? Are we attuned to a different frequency of the collective consciousness? The vibrations of the night are different from the day.
